Dear Katelyn and Jordan,

I just wanted to personally thank you for allowing us to stay at your cabin this weekend. This will probably be a little different from most of the correspondence you get, but I wanted you to know what you've given me.

This month was the two year anniversary of when I had to make a call that put my father in law in a nursing home where he would never be able to be with his family again. My 50th birthday fell a few days before mother's day which is always hard when you couldn't have kids. I tell you this not for sympathy, but so you understand where I was.

I asked my husband to find me a place in the mountains where I could sit outside and just be. (We have always stayed in hotels before, but I work in a casino hotel so I always feel like I'm at work.) We chose your cabin because of the screened deck and the beautiful scenery. We were not disappointed.

Your cabin allowed my husband and I to be together while giving me the space I desperately needed. I spent the majority of my time sitting in the rocker on the deck listening to the birds and the rain. (I even took video of this to bring home with me for when life gets tough again.)

The last night we were there I was on the deck and heard twigs snapping. When I turned around momma bear and her babies were coming down beside the deck. We went back in and were able to get video of them safely from the kitchen window.

For the first time in two years, I wasn't holding my breath waiting for the next punch. I could breathe and listen to the beauty around me. When I lay my head on the pillow at night, I didn't toss and turn struggling with the what ifs. I immediately went to sleep. The tears I cried this weekend were tears of joy.

I could never express the gratitude I have for you and your family for allowing us in your home, but I wanted you to know. What you are providing is not just a property investment. It is an investment in people's lives that you don't even know.
